Sheep gets 'shaved'!
We had two of our sheep sheered this past
Thursday.
One of the Danberry boys from church does this
so we had him come by to do the job.
We decided next spring to have all 5 sheep done, but for now, only two.
Here is where he is getting the head part done first.
The goats were all standing up at their stalls, watching this get done, and 'crying' as if they were saying...."do we have to have that done too?"
He actually would have the sheep up in this way, leaning against him until they relaxed. They he began...even the one sheep that was the most timid, relaxed.
He worked from the belly out to the feet, and to the back --most of the wool came off in one huge piece.
Here is the sheep all done. She looks sort of bald!
Once the wool is removed, the newly shorn area feels very 'greasy like' with the lanolin left.
