monday November 1st

It is Monday after noon, the weekend is done. I have been gone for 8 days now.

Sunday (yesterday) I went up to the mountains, I drove on the Blue ridge parkway.
I did not drive too far, because I knew that I would have no phone service-although most labors do not begin in the daytime, I just wanted to be 'safe' about that.  But when I was there-I did have one bar for a signal-so I might have had service after all....

So I only drove a little ways on it- I went to the first pull over area and then just sat there  enjoying the stillness.  When someone would pull up there, I would say to myself-go away, this is my spot.  Just leave....but they would walk around before they would leave, so I guess they could not read my mind!
I was not that far up in elevation, as you can see here in the elevation level listed on the sign above....
Here is the view below in these three photos..

It was sort of bitter sweet to drive on this mountain road- since this is what Scott and I would normally do each fall -drive the Blue Ridge Parkway-and to not have him here when I was on this drive-well, I did not want to see very much of it, as it made me sad to be seeing it with out him.

Next I left and went to the area that we had went shopping in earlier-I wanted to drive myself around this part of town for awhile so I know the area better.  In case of a birth, I wanted to be able to get around it by myself if needed to.
Then I went to a restaurant to eat.  Steak, bake potato and steamed broccoli.  Yummy.

Then it was time to go back to the house, the neighborhood was having a block party for halloween.  I could not participate in it (not because I was not invited or welcomed) but because of my belief of not celebrating 'man's' holidays- and the original understanding of the beginnings of this holiday-

So I sat back in the family room and watched a movie on my computer.  My daughter allowed me to use her netflix account -thank you daughter- and thank you son in law- (by the way Stephen, your bill for the horses for the bride price has now been reduced again...)

I also worked on some knitting.

Today I was up at 5 am, and went for my walk.  I forgot my walking shoes, so I might have to go buy some.  I hate spending money on me....

But it is bothering my knee to walk with out my walking shoes, I might try wearing my knee brace tomorrow and see if that helps first.  If not, I guess it is a new pair of shoes.

Today we went to see a woman who is a week from her due date, it was her home visit so I know where she is located at.  What a nice place they live in.  I asked if I could take some photos.
This building is behind their home.

I love this kind of fence!

The river that runs thru the property...

a great name of roads-had to take this one!

Here below is the little cabin that we (the birth team) get to use if the birth is a bit long.  I think it is one of the few times I hope the birth is not a fast birth!

I really enjoy the mountains!  What a great view while we traveled thru them!

  1. Ireena, it looks as though you are being surrounded with beauty to help keep your mind on the Creator of such things and not on those you have left behind. Still hard, I can only imagine. Think of you often and praying for you!

  2. Looks beautiful Ireena. My heart is heavy that you are not with your family but I am glad you at least get to be where it is lovely.
